My main focus for the past year has been continuing to write a popular book about learning and violence issues, the working title is: Bad, Wrong, Stupid, Don’t Belong: Shifting Perspectives on Learning Difficulties

After visiting the Yukon during 2015 and 2016 as part of the Yukon Literacy Coalition’s research project on Women, Violence and Learning (funded by Status of Women), I continued to analyze and write discussion papers from that study during 2017.

I was delighted to be invited by the Goodling Institute for Research in Family Literacy at Penn State University to present my research at the Families Learning Conference in Tucson, Arizona, October, 2017. This  was the annual conference of the National Center for Families Learning in the U.S. If you met me there please do follow up with me, I would love to connect!

In 2018 I will be returning to my book manuscript after a hiatus to take on other projects.

I am also looking forward to travel to Australia in September. I will be presenting at the Australian Council for Adult Literacy annual conference, in Melbourne, Victoria on September 13th.

During my stay I hope I will have the opportunity to connect with people who work in many educational venues – both formal and informal, with children and adults – in many different parts of the country. As I get bookings I will add them here.

I would love to offer formal presentations and workshops, informal consultations and conversations, about any aspects the impact of violence on learning and how we address it, how we support change in individuals, institutions, and systems.

Please contact me at jenny at jennyhorsman dot com if you have ideas of how I might support your work in this area, whether you are new to it, or have been addressing these issues for a long time! I would love to work with you. I am happy to explore the possibilities of how we might work together fruitfully through any media that works for you.

If you live in other parts of the World I am happy to take on presentations and workshops that support my writing, especially in places where I am already travelling (or passing near!)

Contact me if you would like to learn more about my schedule or have ideas about how you would like to collaborate.
