Since 2006, along with many friends and colleagues I have been building a resource hub to bring together people and materials addressing the impact of violence on learning.
In 2018 we began developing the latest version, which we hope will be much more searchable and easier to access. The redesign also gave us a chance to clarify what we now know about the impact of violence on learning and how to address it:
learningandviolence.net introduces creative ways to teach and learn with love and justice within violent systems
At learningandviolence.net we hold a radical respect for the ways all people negotiate hardship. We offer resources and create community to:
- Increase understanding of the complexities of violence and trauma
- Appreciate the brilliance of human survival strategies
- Recognize the impact of such experiences on learning in every setting and at every age
- Work for change in institutions and organizations, and
- Support greater learning success for babies, children, youth, and adults
