Since 2006, along with many friends and colleagues I was building a resource hub to bring together people and materials addressing the impact of violence on learning.
In 2018 we began developing a version, which we hoped would be much more searchable and easier to access. The redesign also gave us a chance to clarify what we knew then about the impact of violence on learning and how to address it.We said:
learningandviolence.net introduces creative ways to teach and learn with love and justice within violent systems
At learningandviolence.net we hold a radical respect for the ways all people negotiate hardship. We offer resources and create community to:
- Increase understanding of the complexities of violence and trauma
- Appreciate the brilliance of human survival strategies
- Recognize the impact of such experiences on learning in every setting and at every age
- Work for change in institutions and organizations, and
- Support greater learning success for babies, children, youth, and adults
We still believe in all those principles but we changed our url to lava.care – and had problems with our site – so we began a new one – so far we haven’t been able to get funding to continue – but some day, some day….
